A guide to connected assistants

Connect your AI assistant

Bring your whisky collection into the conversation. Ask about bottles you own, explore your tasting notes or plan a flight with the assistant you already use.

MCP is the connection that lets your assistant read information from MyDrams. You use your own assistant account; availability and usage limits depend on the provider and your workspace.

Claude · Quick setup

Connect MyDrams to Claude

Use Claude's web connector settings. On Team or Enterprise, an owner or authorised administrator may need to add the custom web connector under Organization settings → Connectors first. Each member then connects their own account.

  1. Add a custom connector

Open Customize → Connectors, then + Add → Add custom connector. Enter MyDrams as the name and paste the server address above.

Choose Continue and review the detected authentication settings. Use OAuth and Sign in now if asked. If offered an OAuth client choice, choose Register automatically. You do not need a client secret or request header.

Finish adding the connector. Select Connect if Claude shows it as a separate action.

  2. Sign in and allow access

Sign in to MyDrams if prompted. Check your account and return destination, read the permission details, then choose Allow if you agree. Only approve a connection you started.

  3. Use MyDrams in a conversation

In a conversation, use the + → Connectors menu and enable MyDrams. Try:

Use MyDrams to list my open bottles and suggest a three-bottle tasting flight.

Review and save the suggested flight yourself in MyDrams.

    Run this command:

hermes mcp add mydrams --url https://mydrams.app/api/mcp --auth oauth
  2. Sign in and allow access

Your browser opens the MyDrams consent page. Sign in if prompted, check that it shows your MyDrams account and returns you to 127.0.0.1 (Hermes on your computer), then choose Allow if you agree.

When the browser says the authorisation was successful, go back to the terminal. If no browser opens, open the link Hermes prints.

A few useful things to know

What else can I ask?
Try “What do my highest-rated tastings have in common?” or “Which bottles did I buy on my distillery visits?” Your assistant reads saved data; you save any new records yourself in MyDrams.
How do I disconnect?
Open MyDrams → Profile → Connected assistants and disconnect the provider. This stops future reads but cannot erase information already shared with the provider or kept in chat history.
Why can't I see my records?
Check which MyDrams account you authorised and that the connector is enabled in your conversation. In ChatGPT, refresh the tools if the list is empty.
What if connecting fails?
Check the server address and your provider's workspace permissions. Avoid repeated retries in quick succession; registration attempts are limited. For help, email whisky@mydrams.app.
